Description: This session will define and provide examples of common types of curriculum biases found in PA education and corresponding mitigation practices. Attendees will have the opportunity to share how their respective institutions and/or programs reduce bias in their curriculum and the advantages and challenges associated with various bias mitigation practices.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define conscious (explicit) and unconscious (implicit) bias
  • Describe examples of how bias may appear in PA curricula
  • Discuss evidence-based tools that can be used to minimize, identify, and/or address bias in PA curricula
  • Explore how to collaboratively address bias reports
  • Summarize the advantages and challenges associated with implementing bias mitigation practices in a PA educational setting
