Description: This session will review how a PA program can use a comprehensive, progressive, and innovative simulation program to develop the practical and technical skills and patient-centered attitudes required for PA practice and the benefits of doing so.

Learning Objectives:

Describe various modalities (such as manikins and anatomical models or standardized patients) of simulation which can be used in training PA learners
Identify benefits of using simulation in the development of learners’ self-confidence and skills in obtaining a history, performing a physical examination, counseling and communicating with patients, and completing technical tasks
Structure a simulation curriculum with a progressing sequence of encounters to push learners to higher levels of competence
Create encounters and activities that allow for formative feedback from faculty and standardized patients
