Description: This session will examine the use of race in clinical algorithms including decision-making tools and practice guidelines used in medicine and taught by PA faculty. It will provide critical thinking questions to consider for teaching about race embedded clinical tools to promote 21st century health equity.

Learning Objectives:

Examine how race influences clinical outcomes with the use of clinical algorithms, guidelines, and decision-making tools
Discuss how questioning the use of race in clinical tools is important for health equity
Apply a 3-question test when teaching and applying clinical algorithms
Discuss the need for clinicians to remedy previous race-based decisions
