Safety

Just a block away from PAEA headquarters, the Forum is practically in our backyard. The Marriott Marquis is located in a bustling business and residential area and away from the major DC focal points.

The hotel routinely hosts conferences for a range of groups, including high level meetings. It takes the safety of its guests seriously and has professional security and detailed plans for keeping its guests safe.

When booking conference locations, PAEA discusses security with the venue to ensure it has security protocols in place and is prepared to handle large groups. PAEA staff work closely with the hotel at all times to monitor and address any safety concerns.

The election is nearly a month after our conference. We do not anticipate election-related activities to cause any problems for the Forum.

You may speak to any member of the hotel staff or PAEA staff, who will be wearing PAEA shirts.

Location/Facilities

PAEA takes attendee safety seriously and is committed to providing a secure and welcoming environment for our members.

PAEA will actively monitor local news and events throughout the Education Forum and Fall Workshops. As in any city, we remind conference attendees to be aware of their surroundings and explore the city in groups.

Only conference badge holders will be allowed into PAEA’s Education Forum in the Marriott Marquis. If you have any concerns at the event, please get in touch with a PAEA staff member. Event staff will be wearing PAEA name badges. You may also contact hotel staff and ask to be put in touch with the PAEA event manager.

As with price increases at the pump and at the grocery store, inflation is the reason the Education Forum is more expensive this year. Everything that goes into a successful conference, from hotel costs to food and labor, has gone up.

At PAEA, we believe the Education Forum and Fall Workshops offer outstanding value; however, it is important that PAEA maintain good financial health. This level of investment to the PA community is highlighted by rich professional development opportunities offered and the ability to bring together faculty and staff from PA programs across the world to learn, connect, and celebrate the PA profession.

The increase for the Education Forum will be a $75 per attendee. Details about the registration pricing are available here. The increase will enable us to continue to provide top-notch educational programming and professional development to the PA education community.

We are sensitive to the reality that programs are also experiencing financial difficulties. To that end, PAEA will offer an On-Demand Forum Pass with new exclusive content, recordings from the in-person Featured Speaker presentations, and e-posters for those who are unable to attend live or prefer to view content virtually.

All events and activities are based out of the Marriott Marquis.

Yes, Wi-Fi will be complimentary during the event.

Forum registration begins on Tuesday, October 8 at 12:00 p.m., and the first concurrent session will be at 2:00 p.m. to be followed by the second concurrent session at 3:00 p.m., then First Timer's Welcome at 5:00 p.m. and Welcome Reception at 6:00 p.m. For more details on the entire Forum schedule, please see the current agenda.

If you are registered for a Fall Workshop, those begin on the Saturday or Sunday prior to the Forum. Please refer to the workshops page for specific workshop schedules.

There are three major airports in the Washington, DC region: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (airport code: DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (airport code: IAD) and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (airport code: BWI).

The average temperature in Washington DC in October for a typical day ranges from a high of 69°F to a low of 50°F. Some would describe it as mildly cool with a gentle breeze. Please check www.weather.com for updated information as the conference gets closer.

Please send a message to our conference planning team at Forum@PAEAonline.org, or for workshop-related questions email us at Workshops@PAEAonline.org and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
